"Welcome to Holland"

I recently stumbled upon this poem by Emily Perl Kingsley. Here she describes what it is like to have a child with special needs, to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel.

So very inspiring. So very well said.

Is the loss of landing in Italy a real, significant loss that from time to time surfaces pain, hurt, and frustration?

Yes. Yes it is.

Is Holland different?

Yes. Quite different actually.

But is Holland beautiful?

Yes. Oh yes it is.

Oh so very beautiful.

So despite some of that pain, hurt, and frustration that creeps in every now and then there is still smiles to be had. . .  because Holland. Wow. Oh how lucky some of us are to experience the joys & blessings of Holland.

  1. Oh wow, that's really beautiful. BUT more importantly: is the comment above me for real??! Ummm.....okay.

  2. I've heard this before but it's been a while. I LOVE it!! So true! Life is an interesting journey, and I'm coming to realize that it can be just as beautiful - and God is every bit as in control - if it's not the way we would have chosen.

  3. I love this and just love the perspective in general... life is not always what we expect, but it's always what God planned for us, which is better than what we had planned for ourselves. Kind of reminds me of the song "This Road" by Ginny Owens- not sure if you've heard it but you should check it out!
