The best weekend we have had in a long time (and major picture overload)

We had the best weekend. I mean, the best weekend we've had in a really long time. It was such a breath of fresh air to have both Brandon home from work and Clara home from school on Friday. Made for an extra long family weekend. We packed in a lot of activities, and made a lot of memories along the way. I can't really even describe it, but there was just so much joy and laughter and fun, that the few days felt a little bit like heaven on earth. (That is not to say toddler tantrums and the like were not included, because they were, but for some reason the pleasant outweighed the not so pleasant last Friday - Sunday, and we chose to soak it up.)

First up on the Friday agenda? The Carousel. We knew Clara loved the carousel, but you guys, she took it to a whole new level this time. Usually she only prefers to sit in one of the covered carriages instead of the actual animals. But we decided to just stick her on the horse and see what happened. And she rocked it. Totally 100% rocked it. She didn't even put up a fight when we sat her on (what usually happens, along with lots of tears). So of course. . . this mama was crying while her big three year old rode the horse that goes up and down all the while other observing mamas were thinking "What on earth is wrong with that crazy woman??"

So proud of herself. . .

Watching from the food court. . .

Saturday morning we decided to set up some outdoor water play. The girls were loving it, and Camille clearly decided that drinking the water that sprayed out of the slip and slide was just about as cool as actually using the slip and slide as intended. And of course intermittent swing breaks were thrown in for good measure.

Once we were back inside and had baths to cool off (the girls, not all of us, incase you needed that clarification), we watched Camille devour half a watermelon. Note to self: add watermelon x2 to next shopping list.

Saturday evening we enjoyed dinner and fellowship with a few close friends & their families. Burgers, hotdogs, and fireworks before it was even dark was on the agenda (because toddlers). Great night with great friends!

Sunday morning was spent at church and then in the afternoon, post naps, we got Sonic drinks and headed to the park. Camille was beyond fascinated by the ducks. She shouted "duuuuuuuuuuuuck" approximately 300x. If her vocabulary was farther along I promise she would have begged to take one home as a pet. That obsessed. :)

So thankful for summer days like the ones above. How was your holiday weekend?

  2. Those weekends really are the best! Avery shares Camille's intense love of ducks - I hope Avery doesn't tell her about all the ducks that live in our neighborhood or she might be super jealous! ;)
