CBS' WKBT News Anchor Responds to Viewer Email Calling Her Fat

Have y'all gotten word of this recent news story? If not I encourage you to take 5 minutes out of your day and watch the U Tube video below.

What do I say in response?

You go girl.

And you are 100% correct.

You are MORE than a number on a scale.

So what do you think? Do you think the viewer has a point here by titling the email "Community Responsibility?" If you were Jennifer Livingston, how would you respond?

  1. I did see this and not only did I think it was great that she spoke out, but I also thought it was great that her employer gave her the chance to do it on t.v.!

  2. I saw this last night and loved it. I think she is so brave to do it on TV, and I agreed with all of her words. But I think she should have shared the name of the person who wrote the letter-- a little public shaming, anyone?? ;)

  4. Wow! Thanks for sharing! It is awesome that she stood up in confidence for who she is and not how she looks!

  5. I watched a link to this last night that some one had posted on Facrbook, and was cheering for her from my seat. "You go girl" is right!! I was physically hurting for her, having to hear such hurtful remarks about herself. I love that her community and her station rallied around her and gave her the support to make such a statement. Her courage was amazing! I could hear her voice trembling a few times, and prayed that it was nerves or anger, and not pain that was making her shaky. I was feeding Lily as I watched, and gave her a long speech about being nice to our friends, as well as strangers. Obviously at 2.5 months old she had no idea what I was saying, but that's a lesson I plan to keep reiterating throughout her entire life.

  6. I saw this on the news this morning! I can't imagine someone saying those things about me..but I also can't imagine having the courage to address it like she did! What an inspiring story and what a role model she is for her girls!

  7. the person who wrote that email has no life and is disrespectful. there's no problem with voicing your opinions, we live in a free country and we are all free to have our own opinions, but we have to be sensitive to other people's feelings -- we should never forget to be respectful. i admire this beautiful woman for speaking up and putting whoever wrote that email in his place.

  8. I just saw this clip on another blog. She is awesome, loved her response. I think she looks great, put together and professional. Why that man thinks he needs to write her says more about him than it does her.
